Conception of Village

The Story behind Village…

I grew up in a village in India, where I enjoyed an amazingly organic life. I spent most of my time playing outdoors, climbing trees, and picking fresh fruit from our orchards. Village became my home long before I was born, when my grandfather, a dedicated doctor, decided to settle there to serve the community.

I am truly grateful for his choice. I would wake up to his early morning chants as he meditated upon the glory of “Ik Onkar.” My father followed in his footsteps and served as a doctor alongside him. Even today, my mother and brother continue to contribute to his cause.

Since childhood, I have felt a deep yearning to give back to my village. How ever, life had a unique plan for me. After getting married, I settled in the US, where I navigated and grew through various challenges as I transitioned into new roles.

In 2010, I felt lost and had a burning desire to reconnect with myself. Seeking joy from my childhood, I began taking long walks in nature and spent hours meditating on the sun. During this process of self-discovery, I experienced a profound breakthrough. My perception shifted dramatically, and I felt a deep connection with “Ik Onkar”—the One Universal Creator. Time and space seemed to dissolve, and I understood that the concept of “One” was the essence of our village.

Village is a creation continuously forming itself. The village is a compass for explorers, an ongoing invitation “to be.” Through my journey, I have been nurturing and birthing this vision of the village, where love, unity, and purpose thrive.

With Love,
Vandana
